On the eve of the Holocaust memorial day we should remind those who forgot or those who deny that the danger to Israel and jews in the world has not lessened, merely transformed.

When a country like Iran, who constantly declares its wish to destroy Israel, continues with its nuclear program undisturbed by the world, as well as its long range ballistic missiles program – Israel must have deterrence.

Israel has the necessary military might to deter countries like Iran. The question is whether a decision will be made should it be needed to release a striking blow to anyone who toys with the idea of destroying Jews in Israel with advanced methods.

But not just Iran poses a threat to Israel and the Jews. Fueled by a growing Islamic invasion, radical terrorists in Europe are gaining strength and planning to attack Israeli interests and Jewish targets across the continent.

The helplessness of European governments to stop this invasion and stop terror cell from strengthening continues. Lack of coordination and understand the threat are the causes for this.

In Europe’s case, Israel can only assist with intelligence, but when it comes to terrorism which threatens Israel directly as with Lebanon or Syria, Israel must act in a way which leaves no room for doubt: Whoever messes with us will be erased off the face of the earth.

Several military conflicts between Israel and the radical Islamic terrorism raise some questions about whether Israel understands that with Islamic terrorism, the fight needs to be with full force and then some. Take for example the last confrontation in Gaza: Israel applied force. Soldiers were killed, and yet Hamas is growing strong and preparing for the next round.

I repeat myself time and time again: IDF, on all its branches, has to force to destroy a threat such as Hamas in Gaza in a couple of days, without risking even one soldier.

But the IDF, though it knows how to do this, keeps looking over its shoulder at blabbering politicians who are scared of their own shadow.

The Israeli air force alone can crush Hamas in Gaza in 48 hours, should the organization decide to launch rockets to Israel or try and attack border towns.

But this force is to be unleashed by a decisive government – something that Israel doesn’t have.

So all of our politicians declare over and over: “Never again”, but when the moment comes when the lives of Israeli citizens are in danger, they lose confidence and the ability to decide. The great IDF vs. a terror organization in Gaza. This is an equation with only one solution but in the mathematics of Israeli politics – it’s ambiguous.

So on the evening of the holocaust memorial day the dangers of Israel and the Jews around the world are great. Facing such dangers we need to act with determination, and if necessary – with great and crushing force.
