Fast Draw – Jerusalem On Fire

What did we get in face of the wave of terror in Jerusalem? An “emergency meeting” by the Prime Minister and several ministers who, as expected, did not give a proper solution for this crazy ordeal.

It was obvious. The Israeli government is helpless facing the Intifada which has merely changed its form. This helplessness especially stands out when hearing all the tough words uttered by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyhau at every opportuinity. Easier said than done, obivously.

The only one showing what needs to be done is the Minister of Public Security, Gilad Erdan , but he’s a lone voice in front of a trembling government. The Minister of Public Security has made it clear that he intends to promote penalties for those throwing stones and Molotov bottles. The minister was attacked for criticizing judges who don’t sentence culprits with heavy penalties. It’s true that his suggestion has the executive authority interfering with the judiciary, but something drastic has to be done because the situation today is the perfect example of unprecedented Israeli weakness.

Erdan said this morning that the government is determined to promote minimal punishment for stones and Molotov bottles throwers: Whoever throws stones or Molotov bottles will be sentenced to several years in prison, and the judge will not have a say in the matter.

Jerusalem is witnessing a war that is being run by the Palestinians in a very clever fashion. This cleverness emphasizes the stupidity and helplessness of a government that is supposed to do act exactly the opposite.

One Israeli has already paid with his life. Many more were injured. Whole neighborhoods are living in fear and nothing is being done save some symbolic acts.

Curfew, snipers that can aim to the knees of such culprits, executing massive force: Any beginner will tell you that this is the way to handle such terror but our government – the ministers and Prime Minister, are afraid of their own shadows. It’s easy to threaten Iran as those are meaningless threats. Handling terror in our own capitol means making brave decisions and those are not to be expected despite Erdan’s initiatives – a lone voice in shameful weakness.
