On tuesday, 21/07/2015, the conference for Future Forces will take place and the preperations are at their peak. Shavit Or, chairman of the conference, was able to make time to answer some questions on the conference, the expectations, the products and developments, and the excitement towards the big day.

Shavit says that the preperations are at their peak: “The excitement is very high, especially since I’m getting great reactions from people, friends and colleagues from the defense field and I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised.”

Q: What’s the reason for the surprise?

A: This is a time of innovation and when I’ve told others about a conference dealing with this matter, friends around me were sceptical. As we moved forward, I was surprised to see that the boundaries of innovation keep stretching each and every time. Sometimes innovation is stranger than fiction, and since we’re dealing with the world of HLS, the range is very broad, but the surprise was also from the number of applications and registrants.

Q: That’s a good point – what can you tell us about the registrants for the conference?

A: We’re talking about hundreds of registrants from Israel and abroad. We’re talking about all sorts of relevant population, from representatives of special unites, some are not to be named, through special elite units such as Shayetet, Duvdevan, Yahalo, the anti-terror unit and more. There’s of course representatives of industry, engineers and representatives from the technology world, delegations from NATO and Interpol, registrants from Brazil, Singapore, United States and Europe. There’s no doubt that the quality of participants from abroad is an opportunity for publicity for the conference in general and for the presentors in particular. Another interesting point is the registrations of bodies who deal in patents who are coming to have a look and get an impression.

Q: Who is presenting in the conference and what are the contents to be revealed in it?

A: Well, I can send you to have a look at our fascinating agenda which speaks for itself, but just so you won’t be kept in suspense, the presentors are divided in two groups: The first is made of top persons in the defense world who will talk on the needs, the trends and directions that the world of Future Forces is heading to. The second is made of showcases of end products, innovative developments etx.

Q: So what is really the difference between that part and any show or defense exhibition?

A: There’s no comparison. This conference is not used as a “security products market”, so you won’t find in it lectures on all those known and familiar products which have been in the market for years. What you will find is those innovations, some of which are in the process of getting ready to operate and some are so new and modern that they’re still in manufacturing – not even a product on the shelf! Some of them have just gone through the patent being approved and are presented for the very first time. Therefore, as I mentioned, this isn’t just another conference but something that is supposed to entirely different.

Q: What is the focus of the final preparations?

A: There are a lot of last minute preparations and with the the excitement is rising – from the materials, from talking to participants and presentors raising the stakes. Just today we’ve received confirmation that Major General Zohar Dvir will be coming to give a lecture, so there’s no dull moment and we keep working in full steam until the day of the opening.

Q: What do you hope would happen in the conference?

A: I’ll be very glad to see you and many others circling around, having fun, and that we’ll see a conference that opens up new horizons and ways of thinking in the world of innovations, that raises an interest, enhances creativity and connects between people of interest and even between developers, industries and clients – it is after all part of the display window that is so unique here in Israel.
