Pay attention: the current coalition negotiations will end up costing the country billions of Sheqels. The money will flow like water to satisfy ludicrous demands from all sorts of parties.

In the framework of these surreal negotiations, they will also set up additional, needless, ministries and have jobs for even more redundant deputy ministers.

Now, this is noteworthy: a senior IDF officer recently said the next war too will have numerous soldiers moving through battlegrounds in armored personnel vehicles (APCs) which would not be protected enough. “There are not enough funds to procure the heavy armored personnel carrier NAMER,” he noted.

So if this isn’t just bizarre – what is?

It is now clearer than ever. Israel did not gain its objectives in Operation “Protective Edge”. All the operation achieved was a short recess. In Gaza, Hamas continues with this force build up right before the IDF’s eyes. Tunnels, bunkers, training camps – and rocket testing.

Gaza is preparing ahead of the next round of fighting. And Israel? Looking on as though this was some play. What are they waiting for exactly? For dozens of Hamas fighters to storm one of the communities along the border? For a heavy barrage of rockets?

And what makes this all the more absurd, is that Israel continues to ship thousands of tons of Israeli cement into the Gaza Strip to aid in the “reconstruction”. Not a single house was rebuilt with all this immense quantity of cement. It all goes to bolster Hamas and its combat readiness.

The IDF did not eliminate Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif during the last operation. Next time, Hamas leadership will be even better protected thanks to Israeli cement. How stupid is that?

Israeli Police, still reeling from the shameful sexual harassment scandals its seniors were involved in, is now embroiled in yet another disgrace: police brutality. This time there was a camera at the scene, capturing two law officers beating a soldier for no reason whatsoever. In numerous other cases, lack of documentation results in criminal charges for “assaulting a police officer”. Not only do policemen attack civilians, the attacked also get a criminal record.

Something is very off in the recruitment process, if even law officers break the law in Israel.

The new police chief must be appointed from outside the police, to ensure a proper shakedown. Otherwise, we will keep witnessing such appalling phenomena not only at the top echelons, but also among policemen tasked with maintaining law and order for us all, rather than go around attacking people for no reason.

In recent days, it has surfaced that so called “human rights organizations”, which have nothing to do with rights whatsoever, are planning a few flotillas to Gaza. Israel must make it clear that such drives will be nipped in the bud. This time, they ought to do it more sensibly than they did in the case of the Marmara.

Israel has the means for effective neutralization of such ships without resorting to lethal force. That much should be made clear.

Israeli has already lost much of its deterrence. This must not happen again, through improperly handling those flotillas of trouble seekers en route to Gaza.
