“This is an act of terror carried out by an individual, with no prior planning” – a sentence we have been hearing a lot lately, from officials trying to absolve themselves from making in-depth inquiries. So, let me tell you something I am sure of: there is no such thing as ‘an act of terror carried out by an individual’. There is always someone behind the driver who carries out a hit-and-run attack or the one who throws an incendiary bomb.

We shouldn’t buy into this official spokesperson rubbish.

In his speech at ‘Yad Vashem’ on Holocaust Memorial Day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu drew a connecting line between the Holocaust and the Iranian threat to annihilate Israel. Only one sentence was missing in his speech, something in the spirit of – should this threat feel really threatening we promise to annihilate you first.

Diplomatic efforts in Lausanne, Switzerland, have failed miserably in the last couple of weeks. Delegates from European countries and the from the US sat down with those very shrewd Iranians sales people, who enjoyed making a laughingstock of the proceedings. In this kind of situation Israel must clarify that it has no part in the sterile diplomatic game, and that it will take care of itself in any way it sees fit. And I am not referring to a defensive act necessarily, but rather to an offensive one. I am talking of a full-on attack, very strong and unequivocal. They need to know, in Teheran, that we are the real “crazy” of the Middle East. Because when diplomacy fails the only thing that can serve to deter is existential fear.

They’ve put up a fence around the White House, which prevents any Intelligence information from coming in.

Nah! They haven’t, but it sure feels the same. All the decisions coming out of the White House regarding International Terror, and particularly concerning ISIS, are disconnected from reality.

Even a junior officer in the US army in charge of following this murderous terror organization’s activities, knows that it is continuing to grow and prosper, and that the activity by what is referred to as “the International Coalition” is a farce. So, what’s happening there? They have the Intelligence. They just don’t make the right decisions.

A strange situation at the very least, and potentially a very dangerous one. If no real action is taken in the near future the new Islamic Caliphate will expand into unrecognizable dimensions, using murder, torture and rape as its tools of advancement.

And finally – Israel is continuing to shield itself from future threats, as a substitute to posing a real threat to its enemies.

We’ve just been told they are trying a new tunnel detection system across from the Gaza border, despite its astronomical price and the fact it hasn’t been proven to work yet. Here too Israel is proving it has diminished deterrence ability. It is investing in transportable air-raid shelters, fences and now in sensor systems.

We could have save ourselves all this effort if we had clarified to the Hamas, in no uncertain terms, that any offensive move it makes would be answered with a response different from anything they had experienced before. We are focused on defense as a poor substitute for military might and leaders willing and ready to use it.
