21193036_s featureThe numbers are astounding: 200,000 new malware-based cyber attacks are recorded daily. Over the last few days alone there have been 1,300 attacks on facebook accounts, including attacks on Israeli users. Every third Israeli user has been attacked. Cyber attacks are focused in two main areas: cyber-crime and cyber-terrorism.

This according to Noam Froimovich, CEO of Kaspersky Lab’s Israeli branch. The company is one of the leading cyber security suppliers worldwide, specializing in the development and marketing of defense and information security software. The Russian company operates in 200 countries and offers security software to more than 300 million users. Froimovich, in an interview to iHLS, said that Interpol itself, in order to combat the rising tide of cyber attacks, established a “cyber interpol unit” based in Singapore. This new organization will lead the global fight against cyber threats. In the first stage of operations it will establish a shared, international database to combat net crime.

According to Kaspersky Lab global surveys the organized crime world is getting more and more involved in cyber crime. Since the internet is inundated with large sums of money (mostly purchases and bank deals) crime organizations attempt theft, credit fraud, identity theft, corruption through financial maneuvers, stock manipulation and more. Even in Israel, according to the company representative, criminal organizations infiltrate networks in order to gather intelligence, to be used later for various schemes and industrial espionage.

Yesterday in Tel Aviv Kaspersky Lab presented a new cyber security product: Kaspersky Internet Security Device. The new solution protects all common personal devices, such as PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets.

Kaspersky representatives, VP Sergey Nubikov, marketing director Stephan Kremel and Israeli branch director Noam Froimovich, said that according to company surveys the public isn’t aware of the threats to newer technologies such as smart phones, which are used to make online purchases and are tempting targets for hackers. These devices need comprehensive cyber defense measures just as much as the more traditional computers. The Android operating system, which is the most common, is the main target for hackers. In 2012 more than 43,000 new malicious softwares targeting the Android OS were recorded, ten times as many compared to 2011. The new information security system by Kaspersky offers complete protection to all devices – Android, Mac computers, PCs and smartphones.

A few of the features are:

  • Real time protection against malicious code, including automated scanning when downloading applications in order to prevent the installation of hidden malware.
  • Locating lost mobile phones (millions are lost daily around the world) by remote locking, deletion of sensitive information and remote use of cameras.
  • Filtering voice calls and text messages to block spam.

The Kaspersky Lab solution also protects PCs and Macs:

  • Secure online transactions.
  • New technologies to protect against hackers blocking the device for ransom.
  • Improved protection for children: Blocking unwanted content, time limits, preneting children from divulging sensitive information such as credit card numbers.

Installing the new program is simple and short, for both PC and smartphone, and is similar to installing a new applications. The price: 187 NIS per year to protect three devices, and 287 NIS to protect five devices (PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones, in any combination).
