Fast Draw – They Changed The Rules

“The bastards changed the rules but didn’t tell us,” the saying goes. With a slight change – the Palestinians changed the form and are running a third Intifada. Only Israel keeps on playing with semantics.

After two of a certain kind of Intifada, the Palestinians realized they have to change the pattern, and so they have.

Israel knows this, but is playing semantics because for politicians, everything is a game meant to keep their backs in state chairs.

So when you are talking to the experts, they are in agreement that what has been happening here for months is an Intifada, but formal Israel prefers to call these events all sorts of nicknames and not by their right name – Intifada. The word literally means shaking something off, which leads to mess, chaos.

The first two times it looked different, but Ramallah understood that by changing the form, Israel will find it difficult to respond, which is exactly what was done.

So there is a full scale Intifada which has already boiled over to the Israeli Arabs, operating them. And in the government, ministers keep accusing one another with impotence.

Actions? Other than recruiting the reserve forces and pushing the Police to the end of its ability, nothing is really being done. The plan to outlaw the northern branch of the Islamic movement is stuck. The attorney General has yet to approve fining parents whose children are taking part in the Intifada. The list of impotence goes on.

This is no way to fight terror. The real show will begin today with the opening of the winter seat in the Knesset – accusations, curses, but no real actions.

The official Israel does not want to admit that this is an Intifada because it will make it look even more pathetic.

And there is another reason – if an Intifada is declared, tax funds transfers to the Palestinians will have to be halted, which will eliminate what little is left of the security cooperation, which is, by the way, mostly beneficial for Abu Mazen for keeping his chair and perhaps his life.

What is this like? The whole world claims that Israel has nuclear weapon. The official Israel makes no comment. According to foreign press, one of the reasons is that according to an American amendment, a country with nuclear weapon cannot receive military aid from the US. So according to foreign sources, Israel has nuclear weapons but according to the same sources the official Israel is not confirming this for practical reasons.

You see? Everyone is lying to everyone. It is a pathetic game and the citizens of Israel are paying the price. Hiding behind vague definitions, behind legal phrases, is not way to defeat terror.

Never has been in Israel a government that shows such a great distance between its words and its actions.

And today the big circus begins in the Knesset. Instead of sitting in the war room and managing activity against the Intifada, the Prime Ministers and all his ministers will sit and answer to cries from the leftist members of Knesset, especially to those of Arab members. God help us.
