It’s a tough job, working for security services and law enforcement investigating crimes or terror attacks, having to sit for hours and straining your eyes watching neverending video footage in order to extract data and find details regarding the case. However, it seems that the solution is very close. Morpho has announced that it will launch Morpho Video Investigator (MVI), its latest advance in video analytics technology at the Global Identity Summit 2015.

The company’s solution combines a facial recognition software that offers law enforcement agencies and the intelligence community assistance during investigations. Researchers could process and analyze more video data much faster compared with the current, traditional process. The software’s implemented algorythms process video sequences by searching and reporting the necessary elements.

As MVI sorts through volumes of raw data, the video analyst can start a review based on the most relevant data, saving the time and effort normally spent watching the entire video. In this way, the analyst finds clues faster, and is able to exploit them more quickly.

The software offers the video cameras a sort of artificial intelligence which cuts back on manpower by being able to “watch” a large number of cameras and at the same time to recognize movements of elements that the human eye can not notice using a set of pre-defined rules.

Furthermore, the software features tool for joint-management of events, allowing several analysts to work simultaneously on the same case. It is based on a dynamic platform which can be adjusted to the clients’ needs, says Celeste Thomasson, President and CEO of MorphoTrak. “MVI provides law enforcement and the intelligence community with the tools to detect criminal activity and terrorism, and to protect our critical infrastructure, and public safety.”
