super-heronIn the 1970’s, Israel was the world’s pioneer in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Today, Israel is still at the global forefront in this field. Along with the United States and China, who are investing heavily in developing UAV capabilities, Israel is still leading in innovation and export in this exciting area.

Held on September 7th, 2015 in Israel, the 3rd Autonomous, Unmanned Systems & Robotics convention – AUS&R 2015 commemorates Israel’s fourth decade of Israel’s UAVs, for it was in 1975 when the IDF challenged the local industry with the requirement for the first airborne, unmanned reconnaissance drone to provide intelligence in real-time. The biggest event of its kind in Israel, AUS&R 2015 will be held at the new conference center LAGO in Rishon Letzion where thousands of delegates and visitors are expected to arrive.

The event will include demonstrations of UAVs in flight and robotic vehicles on the ground. The exhibition will present the latest technological innovations in the fields of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Robotics. In addition, the day’s events include a professional conference in which today’s leaders and past pioneers will discuss the technologies and means being developed today for the systems of tomorrow.

Since the 1970’s, defense applications drove research and developments in both industry and academy. With the entry of unmanned systems to other uses, commercial off-the-shelf technologies, open source software are enabling developers to deliver affordable and advanced systems for civilian use.

The conference will cover those aspects, discussing military requirements for the next generation of UAVs and integration of drones in commercial and civil environment. The conference will also present researches and technological developments in the fields of operational autonomy, survivability and cyber. It will also focus on the challenges of standardization and certification, operational security aspects and more.

As in past years, the live demonstrations – the aerial display and robotic demonstrations – are an integral part of AUS&R. This is what made AUS&R an international attraction. AUS&R is getting a lot of interest from international media. This year the conference is expected to host dozens of news crews from media channels across the world to cover the event. The demonstration will be broadcast on a large screen, indoor and outdoor, showing the vehicles’ operation live, including displays if the mission’s payloads, control stations, command and communications systems.

The conference is creating great interest in Israel and abroad and hundreds of participants have already registered. Among participants are foreign delegations, top-ranking officials in the security forces and representatives from many industries in Israel and abroad.
