Despite Counter Attacks, Terror Levels Are As High As Ever

Earlier this month the U.S. Committee for Homeland Security has published a report that brought no good news. According to the report, the terror threat level in the United States has remained unchanged and continues, in fact, to be just as high as ever. But the problem doesn’t end here – in the past year even more Jihadi terror incidents took place than any other year since 9/11. The massive fortune the U.S. is spending yearly for homeland security does not seem to be making things better.

According to the report, since 2011, 122 “homemade” terror attacks have been registered, meaning terror commited by Americans. The number of attacks has actually tripled since 2010.

The report finds that U.S. authorities have arrested or charged at least 48 people only this year on incidents relating to the radical terror organization, ISIS. These cases included attack attempts, joining the organization’s ranks, sending money, equippment and weapons to terrorists etc. Furthermore, an increased trend was detected of terrorists attacks against American soldiers and law enforcement agents.

The report cited as an example the attack on July 16th by Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez on a recruiting office and a Navy-Marine reserve center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in which five soldiers were killed. Abdulazeez is a U.S. citizen born in Kuwait.

One of the conclusions in the report states that ISIS is fanning the Islamic terror and has inspired 55 attacks or plans to attack western targets. This bleak conclusion shows that despite the United States’ efforts in dealing with terror threats, intelligence agencies claim that ISIS is no weaker than it was last year, in spite of a whole year after aerial attacks against the organization.

Michael McCaul, chairman of the committee, said that the U.S. must do more in an attempt to move the battle to the enemy’s territory, where it is based. According to him, the terror threat in the U.S. will only escalate constantly.
