Countries In The Virtual Battlefield

In the past, wars took place only in the real world: Armies battled each other in the physical spaces while using guns, cannons set in different war strategies. Today, however, the world has become more technological and the virtual space, such as the internet, has become one of the main platforms where everyone are present: Countries, cities and armies. Any self-respecting country aims to be as efficient as possible so that it could maximize production from its limited amount of resources, but this proccess of re-organizing, in which more infrastructures go online, exposes these cities, armies and countries to even greater dangers: Hackers.

The conflict between Pakistan and its neighboring India is quite vigor for many years now and the tension between the two countries is constant. The physical border between them is one of the most dangerously active in the world, making it very well-guarded both with soldiers and technological means on both sides. Recently, cyber attacks against India by Pakistani bodies, or bodies related to Pakistan in some way, have grown in frequency, making the cyber threat even more present and forces the Indian government to put much more effort into coping with it.

Some of the Indian government’s officials have already declared they intend to work tirelessly in order to make the country safer against malilcious hackers, but experts say that that wouldn’t be enough and that India must come up with a proper strategy rather than local solutions. The different cyber attacks are commited by top-rate professionals, and so India must form a designated Cyber Fighters team which will be trained in cyber combat as well as in thinking like the opponent. Times Of India claims that the best cyber defense system will that composed of three key factors: High quality manpower, efficient work process and advanced technology.

Cyber threats against countries are nothing to belittle. When someone with the right knowledge attacks, the damages they can bring are substantial. An attack on bank accounts, for instance, could bring a whole financial systems tumbling down. Disrupting a nation’s critical systems could cause it to malfunction in a way that would damage the country’s functionality, sometimes severly. It might be true that explosions and physcial assaults look more real to people, but fighting in the virtual arena could amount in just as much damage, if not more so.
