Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) have a range of capabilities for a variety for missions, from attack missions to intelligence missions. The possibility of a cooperation between the Italian Hacking Team, a company specializing in surveillance technologies, and Boeing’s subsidiary – Insitu, which specializes in manufacturing mini UAVs, will allow for the range of missions to expand and will add to it a cyber attack capability. The Tactical Network Injector (TNI) capability recently developed by the Italian company can break into a wireless internet network and to insert to it a malware and has caught the attention of Insitu, who established first contact in orer to examin a possibility of a mutual relationship between the two companies.AUSR2015eng_-180Γאז├קΓאז250

The contacts were revealed when e-mails between representatives of both sides were leaked, after Hacking Team introduced its latest development in the  International Defense Exposition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi in February. It’s not yet clear from the correspondance whether the two sides have reached an understanding or not, but the mere fact that contact was made shows that the idea is feasible. It might just be that in a few years, the title Assault UAV will include a cyber attack, and not just a physical one as it is today.
