lockAs cyber threats on countries of Europe are getting to be more present, more threatening and by the hands of more professional people, anything with which one can protect against these attacks is acceptable, especially when it comes to countries facing cyber threats daily. For such a need NATO has established the Cooperative Cyber Defense Center of Excellence (CCDCOE), based in Estonia.

The center has 14 european countries and the United States as members, the latest country joining being Sweden. The head of the center, Artur Suzik, said that Sweden joining the center is only natural in light of the fact it is already taking part in the world’s largest cyber defense drill – Locked Shields. The Sweden Ministry of Defense said that the NATO center has great significance in producing a defense methodology from cyber attacks.

The Center’s mission is to enhance capability, cooperation and information-sharing between NATO allies and partners in cyber defense. Evidence for the importance of a center for sharing information on cyber issues is received constantly, as every short while world media reports on cyber attacks made by individual hackers, but also by countries that see themselves as great powers such as China, which is suspected of comitting attacks against the U.S., and Russia, which is thought to be the one who committed the cyber attack against the French television channel.
