Egozi’s Fury: Deal or no Deal. It doesn’t matter to Israel.

18315594_m-egozi-featureBy the time this column is published there may be a deal with Iran on its nuclear weapon program, or there won’t. In any case, it won’t matter to Israel.

The president of the United States, Barack Obama, has estimated last week that the chances are reaching a deal with Iran is “less than 50-50”. According to senators who met with him, he said that he would not agree to any deal he thinks is too weak or un-enforcable.

But back to us and why either option wouldn’t matter: Because either way Iran will keep rushing towards the bomb. In Tehran there are smart people and they demand removing sanctions when most of them were already bypassed. In fancy meeting rooms in Europe sit naive people who don’t understand who they are dealing with. That’s the whole story.

Just look at how the international “coalition” is fighting ISIS and you’ll understand that it makes no difference if there is a supposed agreement or not. The world is stupid. It’s mostly us who will pay.

The talk of easing the clasp on Gaza sounds logical at first. It is true that there is a large population there suffering from terrible conditions. So far the picture is clear. But any ease in the closure will be used instantly by Hamas, who only last Wednesday revealed two new models of rockets and who keeps digging tunnels.

The population in Gaza is hostage to a group of killers with only one goal – to kill Israelis.

In such a situation an ease of the Gaza closure would be considered a grave mistake. Another one. But expecting the country’s leaders to have a sound judgement is too much to ask.

There is still a debate whether the computer system’s crash last week, which paralyzed the Wall Street stock exchange market and a major airline, was a result of a deliberate attack or a malfunction. But this crash exposed once again how much the world is relying on vast computer systems.

The situation is the same in Israel. Is Israel prepared for massive cyber attacks? Is there a single body in Israel in charge of this issue? If you look at names of different bodies in Israel, you’ll find many with impressive titles , offices and vehicles. In reality there’s a typical Israeli mess.

So when the electrical or the communication system in Israel shuts down as a result of an intentional attack by an exterior body, you will understand why it happened.

It may be difficult to immune national critical infrastructures against cyber attack, but what’s going on in Israel only makes such attacks easier.

What is the reason for such an un-rational situation? The same reason for Israel having several “ ministers “ of foreign affairs, for the Prime Minister allegedly acting as minister for several offices and for the government’s decisions to stay on paper.
