A change in Australian flight regulations

However, the rest of the flight regulations in Australia remain the same with the restrictions according to which one cannot fly the vehicle within a radius of 5km from any airport – military or civil, along with with a restriction to operate UAVs in an area that is closer than 30 meters of any person not taking an active part in flying the vehicle.

Regulations prior to the change were set over a decade ago, in the year 2002, with the establishing of CASA and with technology advancing a long way since the beginning of the millennium, there was no escape but to refresh and update it to present reality. The rapid speed of development is expected to keep going in the near future at least, and so it it likely that more regulations will be adjusted to the level of safety and technology of its time. It’s possible that we are on a safe road towards a world where technology is so advanced and so safe that there will no longer be any need to apply safety regulations on the UAV field seperate from any other aerial vehicles in the world.
