Rafael has developed a global orientation system for aerial platforms that it claims renders maps obsolete. One of this system’s many advantages is that it can cover GPS denied area.

According to the Israeli company, the MatchGuide is the first operational one-of-its-kind system globally, enabling accurate designation exchange between remote video sources in real time. In addition, the system enables precise coordinate extraction of a selected video pixel or marking of known coordinates on a live video in real time.

Rafael’s MatchGuide offers Ground Situational Awareness in the form of precise annotation, based on image matching presented on both live video and orthophoto.

Emil B. said that MatchGuide closes the operational gap for the precise geographical information exchange between battle participants. “The system enables designation of entities such as targets, threats, friendly forces and national infrastructure on the sender’s video display, then sending them to the receiver.”

He added that by utilizing unique image processing algorithms, proprietary to Rafael, each entity is immediately and precisely visible on the receiver’s screen regardless of the differences in spatial angles. This automatic matching of images produces a real-time, accurate, narrow bandwidth exchange of information between battle participants, thus providing quick precision targeting and true situational awareness.

MatchGuide is effective regardless of type of electro-optic sensors used or their wavelength; regardless of time of day, partially cloudy weather, line-of-sight or view field.

Emil B. reports that every sensor can be used for added data, even electro optical sensors of missiles like the Rafael Spike NLOS carried by helicopters. He claimed that the system can be used on helicopters, fighter aircraft and unmanned air systems (UAS).

MatchGuide is combat proven across all services in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and has been exported abroad.
