Recent decades have seen a dramatic expansion of computer infrastructure, including an exponential rise in computing power and available system memory. Likewise, there has been an increase in band length and data transfer rates, in the framework of both wireless and fixed line communications. Coupled with various improvements in both hardware and algorithms, has led to the advent of Multi-Systems of Systems, which in their turn also comprise several System of Systems.
For instance, active defense systems consist of numerous sensors of various types, such as radars, electro-optical devices, command and control, launcher and interceptors. Powerful decision support systms (DSS) enable the users to make the most of any military system. This usually determines between success and failure in critical moments.
An Israeli company call Omnisys specialized in exactly this type of simulation means. The company’s customers comprise of defense contractors the world over, including from Israel. Omnisys VP Business Development Freddie Tzimet spoke with i-HLS and elaborated on the company, its products and service, as well as on its outlook for the coming years.
Q: What is your company’s technological concept?
A: Omnisys is a boutique firm with two primary business arms. One focuses on providing engineering services to Israeli defense companies and to the Ministry of Defense (MoD). The other is a ’Solutions Arm’ featuring solutions for simulation systems, analysis and decision assistance systems in the framework of planning and performance optimization.
We have developed, jointly with MoD, infrastructure for simulating Systems of systems. Nowadays, the development process of many primary mission systems for active defense, air defense, orientation and so on is based on the simulation systems we provide.
So, if I was to sum up what our technological worldview is all about, let me say we are constantly learning, trying to figure out industrial systems’ technological trend on the one hand, and on the other, we try to foresee what is the next challenge operators and users face, and we attempt to provide today, solutions for tomorrow’s challenges.

A: We have a highly organized multi-annual research and development (R&D) plan, which we update each year per our understanding and per the input from our clients. For instance, we are currently developing a highly advanced optimization engine, featuring near-real time solution for complex missions such as deployment planning or trajectory for various sensors, while allocating resources in the most optimal way. Another important R&D field we invest in is analysis engines for data extraction, designed to enable Battlefield learning.
Q: What are your most important challenges, and how do you meet them?
A: Retaining our position as a strong, attractive company for our employees and clients alike is among our most important challenges. We believe our employees are among our major assets, so we do our utmost to create a good environment enabling each and everyone to grow to their full potential.
Part of our strategy is to constantly think outside the box, to create innovative solutions which would be meaningful to our clients. Some of them have been with us for over fifteen years now. This makes for a commitment and strategic partnership which allows us to sleep better at night.
Q: What does Omnisys plan for the future?
The company plans to continue being meaningful, that is to continue its contribution to Israel’s security. We aspire to be one of the country’s leading companies in the field of simulation, mission planning and decision assistance systems for operational clients. We also have our sights on cornering the global market.
