Hermes-900

Hermes 900 Kochav [Hebrew: ’Star’) is an Israeli medium size multi-payload unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It is equipped with an automatic takeoff and landing systems and with automatic brakes.

To achieve the flexibility offered by the Elbit systems Hermes unmanned air system (UAS), the Israeli Air Force (IAF) is operating the two versions from the same base.

The IAF is operating the Elbit systems Hermes-450 and Hermes-900 unmanned air systems from the same base and in missions that require the flexibility that these two platforms enable.

The two types have been deployed in the IAF’s Palmachim air base in central Israel and are performing intelligence and force-directing missions.

The Hermes-900 (Kochav) medium altitude long endurance (MALE) UAS carries a large variety of payloads, including sensors derived from Elbit’s key technologies. These sensors have so far been integrated into manned aircraft and ground systems.

Apart from the electro- optical payloads the hermes-900 can be equipped with a lightweight, high-precision and modular airborne COMINT/DF system, with an advanced DF payload that enables monitoring of selected transmissions, while simultaneously performing spectrum scan and DF calculations , with a cellular phone intelligence system that is capable of monitoring, recording, and transmitting GSM phone communications , and with a Jamming payload that according to the Israeli company can manage multiple frequency sub-bands  with predefined threat lists and jamming priorities.

The more veteran Hermes 450 is an Israeli medium size multi-payload UAV designed for tactical long endurance missions. According to various sources, the system has been sold to numerous countries worldwide, including certain NATO members.
