Fast Draw – the government

A great deal has already been said about the farce that has been going on right before our very eyes, ever since the prime minister decided he cannot run this country “with this preschool of a government”. A lot more will be said in the coming weeks, too.

We are not concerned with politics here, but regrettably, politics has a lot to do with security, homeland security in particular, which is what this website is all about.

So let’s recap: relocating IDF bases to the Negev, the south of Israel, is stuck; the acquisition of acquiring new systems for the Israeli Air Force, like the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (multi-mission, military, tiltrotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) – stuck; operational requirements of the Israeli navy are also stuck. this is but a very partial list, if only for censorship reasons.

The government’s actions during “Operation Protective Edge” are also clearer and the behavior of some ministers more transparent: those ‘kinds’ in what the prime minister himself dubbed ‘preschool’ did not seem to realize there was a war on, and each of them behaved like there was no one else in government but them. Handling terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria was also adversely affected by the way government ministers conducted themselves. No two ministers voiced the same opinion. Instead, they clashed and fought one another.

So this is indeed an example of politics at its worst, and we are the homeland security website, but as I’ve said before, this poor display of bad politics affects us all, as it disrupts our security from day to day, each moment.

It is simply amazing, that ministers, who are supposed to be serious, calculating people, behave in such a manner when Israel is mired in yet another lapse between wars / operations / times of emergency.

Sooner or later, Israel is about to face tough security challenges. The government is disintegrating before it even concerned itself with handling such issues seriously, and this is putting it mildly.

What does the future hold?

Sadly, probably more of the same.
