Fast Draw – Obama and the campaign against ISIS

US President Obama took his time to announce the war against ISIS, but better late than never.
President Obama delivered a special broadcast to the American people, outlining his strategy for fighting ISIS, which operates in Iraq and Syria. Obama said no place is safe for those who threaten the US, and noted he authorized airstrikes in Syria too, as well as additional airstrikes in Iraq.
Obama emphasized that the US will only carry out airstrikes in its campaign against ISIS, and will not introduce ground forces. He also said that Washington is consolidating a broad coalition of countries which all aim to destroy ISIS, and that the US will fund the forces fighting on the ground. “We cannot fight the war of the Iraqi people or replace the Arab countries, but US forces can account for a major advantage,” he added.
All this is all fine and well, but on the 13th anniversary of the largest terrorist attack in history, I would like to hope that the US, as well as other countries, Europe in particular, do realize that the threat this murderous terrorist organization poses is not far away from their borders, somewhere in the Middle East, but rather right at home.
Prior to the terrorist attack of September 11, US intelligence services had all the signs, but no real action was taken. This time round, it seems some of the lunatics who joined this heinous organization, mostly from Europe, were under surveillance – but nothing else was done.
Each and every intelligence service in the world must realize it is not just about monitoring terrorists. It is about neutralizing terrorist who wish to eliminate anyone who does not go along with their desire to establish an Islamist caliphate.
The necessary changes must be far more dramatic. You simply must have a complete overhaul, as the current reactions are simply obsolete.
