The Ebola epidemic is continuing to spread, with the current death toll at 1500 and the number of patients estimated at 2500. This outbreak is attributed to the death of a two-year old in the beginning of December 2013 at Meliandou in south-east Guinea. The outbreak has also claimed the lives of many members of medical teams, including 15 nurses all from the same hospital in Sierra Leone. According to the World Health Organization, some 600 Ebola patients died as a result of this deadly virus in Liberia, 500 in Guinea, 400 in Sierra Leone and numerous others in additional African countries. The symptoms of this disease are high fever, vomiting and diarrhea. Unfortunately, in the absence of any viable cure, the death rate currently stands at 90%.
