Israel’s Iron Dome System and the Interantional Opportunities it Presents

The unprecdented achievements of the Iron Dome system have become known and made it highly desired worldwide. The problem to those countries that would like to purchase this system lies within Israeli government permits.
Some countries, mainly in the Far East have expressed interest in purchasing the “Iron Dome”.
Army representatives of those countries, will soon be coming to Israel to witness a demonstration and to review the details of the systems successful interceptions during operation Protective Edge.
“This is a potential market of hundreds of millions of dollars,” said a source in the defense industry yesterday.
A delegation of experts from the U.S already examined the system in Israel a few years ago but the U.S. has not yet acquired it. According to Israeli sources, this is because of “reasons of national pride”
The Iron Dome’s ability to intercept most of the enemy rockets sent overhead in populated areas is what has impressed potential customers including the Americans.
The export procedures for the iron dome await permission from the Israeli government and according to one source this prcedure is “long and complicated”.
