While fully remote controlled smart home applications are still in their infancy, there’s already a convenient infrastructure to support them. CSR has developed a platform that allows a large number of devices to work on one network, all controlled by a single smartphone, tablet or PC. The company’s CSR Mesh solution is based on a bluetooth network and provides a protocol for transferring messages between the various smart bluetooth devices.

The protocol requires the devices to have built-in smart bluetooth capabilities, which most devices lack at this point, but in the future it may support a wide variety of convenient options. Beyond the fact that the devices will be remotely controlled, they could also communicate between themselves in order to launch various processes inside the house. One piece of information, for example, could launch an entire process involving lighting, air conditioning or security systems.
