Plasan will introduce its new HSF system at the Eurosatory 2014 expo, the latest in passive RPG defense technologies. The company developed the Hybrid Slat Fence, a unique, adaptable protective system for wheeled or tracked vehicles capable of being adapted to various types of terrain, vehicles and even camouflage colors.

HSF is a lightweight protective system comprised of steel and armored plates made of composite materials. The system adds 7 kilograms per sq. meter to the weight of the vehicle, thus having little impact on the vehicle’s speed or other attributes.

According to Plasan CEO Danny Ziv, “The HSF system used a unique, patented technology to defend against the most sophisticated RPGs, including RPG9, RPG7 and even against warheads with an isolating layer. The system is based on a special mechanism that shorts out the rocket.”

HSF can installed over openings and transparent areas in the vehicle, vertically or horizontally, providing maximal levels of protection regardless of door or hatch type. Installation over the vehicle openings doesn’t block the field of view and prevents vertigo, with crew members being able to move the lattice backwards or break it for easy escape during emergencies. The system can also be quickly installed – or removed – by soldiers in the field.

In addition to HSF, Plasan will present its wide variety of protective solutions at the expo, including cabin protection for military trucks, tank turret protection and various survivability solutions, including energy-absorbing chairs and padding.
