Experts: Beware of Online Bank Frauds

Be careful when you conduct online transactions: Cybercriminals may send you fake bank messages to get to your money!

20165483_m feature30% of the private users who use online financial services received fake e-mails disguised as bank messages – This according to a threat survey conducted among fans of online purchases.

Cyber attackers use fake bank messages to convince users to enter their account details – alowing the criminals to access their money. The survey, conducted by B2B and Kaspersky Lab, proves that online purchases, digital banking and online stores have become an integral part of modern life: 95% of the survey participants have carried out transactions over the internet, 91% used online banking services and 74% used a digital payment system.

30% reported receiving e-mail messages that turned out to be fake. 22% reported receiving suspicious messages from online shops, while 10% received direct links to suspicious websites, where they were asked to enter their account details. 4% reported they had actually been victims of these online sting operations in the past.

Kaspersky Lab developed the Safe Money technology to help users protect their money against cybercriminals. The software validates the payment or banking websites and adds another layer of protection to financial deals: The system scans applications installed on the PC and alerts the user if there’s any danger of malware infection.
