Egozi’s Fury

Obviously authorities should have used any possible means to locate them, and they did, but meanwhile the prime minister should have given the Hamas leadership a simple ultimatum: Bring them back or pay a heavy price. That’s the only way to deal with this type of incident, also known as “the Putin approach” throughout the world. But that didn’t happen. If the prime minister had announced such an ultimatum someone in the Hamas might have reconsidered the price they were about to pay. When the moment came, if one of the houses owned by a Hamas leader had been destroyed in an air strike, followed by another after one hour, maybe something could have been accomplished.

But to make this sort of decision you need leaders who aren’t afraid of their own shadow and the international community’s response. They forgot the world really doesn’t care. Just take a peek at Iraq and Syria if you have any doubts.

None of that was actually carried out, though. While the security forces do everything in their power to locate the kidnapped boys, the Prime Minister’s Office published a picture of Binyamin Netanyahu in his Tell Aviv office, looking over maps together with the minister of defense. An inspiring image that made us all feel safe and protected. Just like that ridiculous “supertanker” brought to Israel to help deal with the Carmel fires. Pure public relations with no substance whatsoever. It might have been funny if it wasn’t so sad, but that’s how things are done around here. Plenty of low-quality PR followed by very little practical action.

There are also some questions that can already be brought up. Who allowed three youths to try to hitch a ride home late at night after their yeshiva studies? All that while there’s a wave of attempted kidnappings and information on continued attempts by terrorist organizations. True, the settlers rely on god to save them, but he’s not always around to help. Even when you have strong faith you need to use your head a little, and they didn’t do it.

All television channels launched ongoing live broadcasts after the three turned up missing. In general there’s nothing wrong with it, but they should have put some more thought into it.

Instead they invited all sorts of “experts” and retired generals that have no connection to the incident whatsoever. Each one tried to outsmart the others and the questions from the TV anchors only made things worse. The online rumor mill simply moved over to the television broadcasts, not making the “experts” look much smarter.

The U.S. sold Iraq F-16 fighter jets. Instead of handing them over to the Iraqi Air Force they should have saved everyone the trouble and just handed them directly to Al-Qaeda, or to the organization that took over Iraq almost entirely.

The Americans built Iraq a military that collapsed after two days of fighting armed militias. Just give the weapons directly to the Islamic terrorists. The U.S. continues to ignore reality. It happened in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya and now in Iraq. Washington has all the relevant intelligence, but the decisions made there are completely illogical.

In conclusion, if you don’t realize that the same people who took over Iraq are now aiming for Jordan, not to mention Judea and Samaria, you really need a refresher course on Islamic terror. What’s commonly known as Al Qaeda is a many-headed monster with multiple names. It will not stop with Iraq and will continue to crawl towards Judea and Samara. According to several experts it’s already there.
