Egozi’s Fury

egozi's fury featureThe third intifada is already here. Take the recent chain of events in the territories, take the murder of Shelly Daddon in Migdal Ha’Emek and you have an intifada, even without anyone in Ramallah formally announcing it.

So what else has to happen for the government to order the IDF to react? What else has to happen for someone in Jerusalem to realize you can’t fool all of us all the time?

Why am I so angry over this? There are plenty of reasons, but I chose one from last week. An IDF officer was sent on a navigation exercise in an area overrun with hostile Palestinians, equipped with a non-functional firearm in order to prevent friendly-fire incidents. Someone in the army has no clue, someone doesn’t watch the news. The officer fortunately managed to cock his weapon anyway and get out of that incident alive, although seriously wounded. It very nearly ended in his death. The IDF is living in some sort of fantasy movie produced by the folk in Jerusalem. They want us to believe there’s no intifada and that Israel is cooperating with the Palestinian Authority. So no, there is an active intifada right now, someone has to say it out loud so that army commanders won’t send troops into hostile territory with non-funtional weapons.

If an Israeli Arab or a Palestinian happen to walk by an Iranian embassy abroad while glancing at it sideways – our general security service (Shin Bet) finds out and has them arrested immediately on their return. So please enlighten me; why can’t the Shin Bet stop this recent wave of “price tag” attacks, which endanger us more than they endanger the victims?

It’s even more baffling when you’re familiar with the capabilities of the agency. It’s baffling when time and time again they release suspects after very short interrogations. It almost looks like the perpetrators are smarter than any Shin Bet or police investigators. You’re probably smiling as you read these words, but if this goes on much longer there won’t be any reason to smile anymore.

The IDF is intentionally making its soldiers weak. The soldier who cocked his weapon after facing Palestinian provocation should have received a medal of honor. The Chief of Staff should have invited him to his office and lauded his behavior. But here everything is upside-down, it’s all for show, it’s all aimed at pacifying irrelevant human-rights organizations.

Foreign public opinion paralyzes our military’s leadership. Everything has to be politically correct, even if it means having soldiers back down from incidents that might end with them stabbed in the back.

The inane statements released by the army spokesman immediately after the video of the soldier was revealed – look no further if you want proof that everything went wrong somewhere.

And things are not about to change, either. Nothing is more important than what they’ll say over at the U.N. or the European Union. Our cabinet ministers can go on diplomatic visits there and get a respectful, pleasant welcome. They certainly don’t care about IDF soldiers sent into impossible situations. One exception in Minister Bennet, who said that if he were there instead of that soldier in the video he’d act the same. After that he was blasted by some of his coalition buddies. Our government coalition is truly an idyllic environment.

Hamas in Ramallah and Ramallah in the Hamas. Pundits explain that there might be peace between these two groups of terrorists. Plenty of empty words without understanding a thing. So pundits are allowed to do it, since it takes them about a second to forget what they were talking about anyway. But our heads of state still refuse to state clearly – even Binyamin Netantahu in his impressive bass – that there were no peace talks. It was all for show and it’s finally over.

They’re not real leaders at all. None of them is capable of clearly stating “enough with this nonsense. When Ramallah is serious about an agreement they can call us,” especially when facing Washington. So the nonsense goes on, with most of the effort spent on figuring out who to blame for the talks failing – although you can’t really blame anyone for the failure of something that was never real to begin with.

Russia keeps treating Ukraine as its own back yard while the world “threatens additional sanctions.” Putin has been laughing for months now. He’s probably saying “look at these pathetic clowns,” referring to the western world, an apt description. Russia does whatever it wants – it continues operations in Ukraine, it stated that the Iranians are complying with the nuclear agreement beyond all expectations. They lead the way while the west cowers in the background.

No one takes the U.S. and Europe seriously anymore. That’s over. Even the image of these former world powers is fading away.
