Ahead of Independence Day celebrations: Safety regulations published by the Israeli MDA medical emergency service and the Israel Fire Fighting and Rescue Authority.
Ahead of Independence Day celebrations, the MDA and the Fire Fighting and Rescue Authority call on the public to keep their children safe, watch out for fires and avoid sprays, in addition to being careful not to upset any snakes that might be waking up from hibernation.
The Fire Fighting and Rescue recommendations:
- Fireworks should only be used by an experienced and certified operator, with the right authorizations and knowledge of the environment. The local municipal authorities are responsible for security at fireworks sites
- Fires shouldn’t be lit next to foliage, buildings, vehicles and power lines
- Only adults should light fires
- Using flammable liquids to light fires is forbidden
- After the event the fire should be completely doused

The MDA recommendations focus on children:
- Keep children away from sources of fire and water
- Never pick up rocks – snakes wake up from hibernation during the spring
- Make sure you have enough water before heading out on a trip
- It’s important to explain to children how dangerous the various holiday sprays are
- Maintain sun safety – use sunscreen, wear hats, etc.
- Always have a first aid kit ready in the car
- Car safety: Children should always wear safety belts and have enough water
- Never leave children alone in the car, not even for one moment
- Never leave toddlers next to water sources without supervision
We wish you a happy holiday without any incidents.
