Moscow subway passengers enjoy made-in-Israel Wi-Fi services * Broadband communications between moving platforms and control rooms.

9504804_m featureSeven million people use Moscow’s subway system every day, all enjoying the Wi-Fi internet service provided by the Israeli company RADWIN.

The Moscow subway system is one of the most crowded in the world – 12 subway lines, 180 stations, 300 kilometers of railway lines and seven million passengers daily. The Israeli RADWIN, a provider of wireless broadband communications solutions, provided the Moscow subway with a wireless communications infrastructure system for transmitting audio, data and video. The system enables internet surfing, broadcasting commercial ads in subway cars, real time CCTV, public announcement systems and a communications network to assists conductors.

RADWIN also provides wireless communications solutions for security, such as transmitting video data from cameras to control centers or establishing advanced security networks.

Nir Hayzler, RADWIN marketing VP, explained that the company provides various Fiber in Motion applications, a technology aimed at wireless broadband transmission of information from moving platforms – such as trans, cars or ships. The system, already installed in various locations in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, is appropriate for both subways and trains. It can link, for example, police vehicles to their dispatch while the vehicles are on patrol. This is one application aimed at safe city projects, with other application suited for security and HLS missions.
