Fast Draw – End of Negotiations

Even bad shows must end, and it happened this time as well. What was known as the “peace negotiations with the Palestinians” was very bad show, of the type theater critics refer to as a “low-quality production.” Some elements tried to do anything to keep it on stage, but everything has to end sometime.

Yesterday at noon they tried to tell us that a significant agreement is about to be reached, but “nature” took over: Instead of prolonging negotiations, freeing hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and freeing Jonathan Pollard – now it looks like the negotiations are about to end. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s response – canceling his visit to the area and the meeting with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, after the latter signed 15 international treaties aimed at joining the United Nations – shows the depth of the American frustration.

If the Americans bothered to consult any experts they would have realized the truth a long time ago: There’s no negotiations, there’s nothing to discuss and no one to discuss it with. Maybe they could have prepared themselves by trying to negotiate with the Great Wall of China.

A thousand visits by Kerry wouldn’t make the Palestinians abandon their dream of throwing us all into the sea. They get credit, though, for not attempting to hide their real intentions. It’s a pity that the important offices in Washington all use the best reality filtering technologies.

A senior American source said that Kerry’s decision not to return to the Middle East reflects the growing impatience in the White House, the belief that further attempts at mediation will not be effective and that both sides have to work together if they want to break the current impasse.

Work together? That nonsense again. There won’t real negotiations and there’s not going to be any peace. We’re talking about an enemy that doesn’t want peace – they’re after Israel’s destruction. Why is that so difficult to understand?
