New Israeli Vehicle to Protect Gas Pipelines

Gas pipeline protection is a serious security challenge in many areas around the world, with long pipelines and isolated gas facilities being highly vulnerable to attacks. One solution to the problem is a new ISR patrol vehicle, the Granit, equipped with advanced radar, sensors and communication systems.

The new vehicle’s configuration allows for an optimal coverage of a long sector – more than 100 km of pipeline – providing rapid intervention capabilities as required. The system features day and night electro-optical sensors in addition to a datalink connection to the command and control center.

iHLS – Israel Homeland Security

The Granit is manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries, who was recently awarded a contract in support of a gas pipeline protection project for an undisclosed customer. The vehicle is equipped with an ELM-2112 X-band movement detection radar manufactured by Elta systems.
