This according to the new cyber report by Kaspersky Lab, featuring a detailed mobile threats map. Other findings included in the report:

  • The five leading states in attacks per user are Russia (40%), India (8%), Vietnam (4%), Ukraine (4%) and Britain (3%).
  • Most of the malicious code attacks were aimed at stealing money from users – meaning stealing information from the bank accounts. These attacks were 20 times more common compares to the previous year. One expert said that hackers developed an obsession for this sort of financial-theft-based income.
  • Hackers used more and more means of deception, activities aimed at creating malicious code that’s difficult to locate and analyze. The more complex the code the more time it takes to understand it, with the hackers enjoying access to money and information during the process.
  • Infecting mobile devices is done by hacking into legitimate websites, spreading malicious code through alternative shops for real applications.
