CONTROP, a manufacturer of electro-optic systems for defense, is presenting a new technological breakthrough at the upcoming DEFEXPO 2014 in New Delhi, India: A tiny payload for small unmanned aerial vehicles and small manned aircraft.

The micro-payload, designated M-STAMP, is gyro-stabilized and includes a pair of sensors, day/night capabilities, a camera and a laser pointer.

The stabilized products from Contorp’s STAMP series were chosen by the Israeli Ministry of Defense for the Sky Rider tactical UAV program. These payloads are already operational in Israel and around the world, integrated into a variety of small UAVs and VTOL aircraft.

The Micro-STAMP payload, to be presented at India’s DEFEXPO, weighs only 250 grams and is still in its final development stages.

Another product from the same family is already operational, used by a client in southeast Asia: The T-STAMP, a stabilized payload based on three sensors. It includes thermal day/night cameras (cooled or uncooled, as chosen by the client) and a continuous optical zoom lens, the type of lens used by CONTROP in most of its thermal cameras. The T-STAMP is appropriate for airborne platforms, including UAVs, aerostats and smaller platforms. One option is equipping it with a GPS system, allowing for inertial target tracking and other capabilities.
