15193091_lAdvanced, modern systems for port and coastal security have to be capable of detecting infiltration attempts into protected zones – even a lone swimmer at sea must be detected, a very difficult task.

The Israeli Controp, a developer of electro-optic systems for defense, presents its new security solution at DEFEXPO 2014, taking place in New Delhi, India: A combat-proven, advanced and automatic system that detects infiltration attempts along borders, beaches and other protected zones.

The system is called MEOS, Modular Electro-Optic System. It has a long range and day/night capabilities, automatically detecting any intruder. The system is already operational in various locations around the world, used mostly to protect coasts and naval ports. The system detects and tracks swimmers before they can reach their target.

According to Controp representatives the MEOS is ideal for coastal and border defense, already used by several countries in Asia and worldwide. The company will also present an upgraded version of the system, MEOS-U, equipped with a long-range surveillance camera.

Controp explains that security is the top priority for homeland defense missions. The company offers its clients a complete series of products, including many applications and options for surveillance; long-range, day and night tracking, security and defense.

MEOS is a part of Controp’s LOROS line of stabilized, long range security systems. LOROS systems allow users to customize them according to their own requirements, with optional sensors and gyros for stability. The gyros allow the system to be integrated into mobile vehicles.

MEOS automatically detects intrusions by creating a “virtual fence” around the protected area: Borders, beaches, ports, airports, critical infrastructure facilities and other sensitive sites.
