The IAI Board of Directors, headed by Rafi Maor, made two new appointments based on recommendations by CEO Yossi Weiss.

Colonel (Res.) Jacob Galifat was appointed Director of the Air Defense Systems Division, part of the IAI Missile and Space Systems Group (MSS). Mr. Galifat replaces Boaz Levi, who was appointed IAI VP and Director of the MSS Group. Dr. Avital Schrift was appointed Director of Missile Systems at the same Group. Dr. Schrift replaces Ariel Malchi, who was appointed Deputy VP for Business Development and Special Projects Oversight at the MSS Group.

Jacob Galifat joined IAI in 2008 as head of the Refueling and Military Systems Directorate, part of the IAI Bedek Aviation Group. He was also in charge of the Military Programs Directorate. Mr. Galifat was head of business development for air-refueling aircraft and conversion of IDF Air Force helicopters. Since 2010 he was head of the Naval Systems Directorate at the Air Defense Division of the MSS Group.

During his military service in the years 1983-2006 he held top positions in the Air Force and the Ministry of Defense. He graduated with distinction from the Technion with a B.Sc in Computer Engineering; and graduated with distinction from the Tel Aviv University with a M.Sc in Electrical Engineering.

Avital Schrift began her career in 1991 in Elta Systems, a subsidiary and division of IAI, as the first system engineer for the “green pine” radar, a part of the Arrow system. She was awarded an Israel Prize in 2003 for that role. She worked as the system engineer for the various “pine” radars and their derivatives for many years. In 2005 she headed the Elta Systems Air Defense Systems Directorate. In 2010 Dr. Schrift was appointed VP of the Misgav Division, developing and manufacturing detection, targeting and tracking systems for land and sea applications.

She graduated with distinction from the Technion with a B.Sc in Electrical Engineering, as part of the IDF’s Academic Reserves, and with an M.Sc in Electrical Engineering. She holds a Ph.D in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the Weizman Institute. Her work was presented in academic conventions and magazines. In addition, Dr. Schrift completed management training as part of a Tel Aviv University directors training program for women.
