Iran has added some purchased systems to its “advanced combat helicopter ” but this it’s still the same old U.S. made Cobra.

Israeli sources say that the upgrade of the Cobra is mostly “cosmetic” and in line with other announcements of “advanced weapon systems” that Teheran claims were developed by the local defense industries. “The recent addition of some cockpit systems does not change the fact -this is a very old helicopter with limited capabilities in today’s battle conditions” one of the sources said.

In January Iran’s state media announced that the country’s new Toufan-2 (Storm-2) combat helicopter is fully operational.

The helicopter, according to the announcement, has precise targeting ability, digital fire control system and night vision, according to reports.

The Toufan is based on the Bell AH-1J Cobra.
