There is a minister in charge of the home front, the ministry has a director general and there are many employees. They are all worthless, and useless , as we have seen in the past few days.

Israel is not ready to address an attack on the home front. Everything is just talk.

Nothing is ready and nothing can be ready without the needed budget. But the minister and his staff are weak, useless and the home front is exposed.

Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Subcommittee on Home Front Preparedness chairman Eli Yishai (Shas) said there will not be enough gas masks for civilian protection in case of a chemical weapons attack.

During a press briefing, yesterday Yishai told reporters that there are no funds set aside for home preparedness for the year 2014. According to Yishai, the committee had warned the government about the lack of funds, but requests were ignored. “I don’t want to cause panic,” Yishai added. “We have gone through a lot in Jewish history, and we have to be ready for any scenario.” He stressed that people should not panic, but also mentioned that the government isn’t necessarily doing enough.

Shana Tova, and I hope we won’t need gas masks this year,” Yishai concluded. A very elegant way to conclude such a press conference. Isn’t that comforting?
