16454911_sWhile the U.N. is “making preparations” to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria, there are signs of another attack. “The U.N. is a bad joke, they are too impotent to take any action that will make a change” an Israeli source told i-HLS.

The U.N observers came to Syria two days ago.

A Syrian opposition group said dozens of civilians were killed and hundreds wounded in what may have been a gas attack by forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Ghouta district near Damascus airport.

According to Bloomberg the accusation by the Coventry, U.K.-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory, which cited unidentified local activists for the information, could not be independently confirmed. Arab television channels including al Arabiya aired video footage taken by opposition members showing rooms full of dead civilians, including children.

Rami Abdurrahman, head of the Syrian Human Rights Observatory, called on the United Nations and international organizations to provide relief and investigate the possible use of chemical weapons.

I cannot confirm personally, that’s why I am calling the UN to investigate,” Abdurrahman said in a phone interview.

UN inspectors, led by Swedish chemical weapons expert Ake Sellstrom, arrived in Damascus on Aug. 18 after Syria invited them to investigate allegations about the use of chemical weapons in the conflict that began in March 2011.
