The Paris Air Show to be opened tomorrow is still the largest show of advanced aviation. But the show is in many ways connected to Homeland Security. How is that?

Very simple – the technologies displayed have in recent years found their way to systems used in homeland security.

We see it very clearly in mission aircraft, sensors, UAS and many others.

This symbolizes the thin line between defense and HLS in its broader sense.

And among the many visitors that will come to Paris this week to enjoy the show and the other things this beautiful city can offer, we will find many that are involved in homeland security.

They will look for every technology that can help them fulfill the missions and these are all over in the show.

The show is also a good opportunity to exchange views between the developers and the potential clients. In the past, these meetings resulted in adapting “pure” defense technologies to ones that are being used for HLS. This will no doubt happen this year too. When people meet in a relaxed atmosphere, many times over a good French cooked meal, ideas come out.

The industry is looking for new ideas, for hints about new uses for existing technologies.

Deals are not signed during the show. Announcements are usually made about deals that have been already signed.

One thing happens here in Paris – ideas come out and start the long way to new ways of implementation.
